Shihoudou belongs to the Mibu clan, which is an ancient clan that lives in the depth of the forest surrounding Mt. Fuji, Aokigahara. The Mibu clan has ruled Japan from the shadows for centuries, manipulating history to their preference.
The Mibu is conducting research to restore the Mibu clan to its former glory, but since most of the original clan is gone, all members with the exception a very low amount are all descendandts of creations made by the original Mibu clan. This includes Shihoudou, sho iw a Battle Doll, just like most her clansmen.
Shihoudou is the first and olders of the Taishirou, who are the Four Clan Elders and the Red King's body guards, although she quit quite a while back. She was asked by the Former Red King to kill him if he ever became corrupted, and since then, she has lived in the underground, spending her time making graves for all failures in the experiments for the Mibu clan's restoration. She became the Guardian of the Labyrinth, being the only one who knows every turn and end of it.
She often observed the Former Red King talk to Kyo, a child who was a candidate to become Red King in the future. A child who was said to be cursed, because his eyes were red.
When Muramasa, Kyo's guardian, took the little boy with him to leave Mibu, Shihoudou let them leave because she liked the little dirty flea that was the grumpy little Kyo. As punishment, she got a beating that made her unable to move for three months.
Years later, she met Kyo again, and this time he was with one of the general Sanada Yukimura's Ten Braves, Sarutobi Sasuke, and she decided that if Sasuke managed to catch her hat, she'd let both boys out of the labyrinth. Sasuke didn't manage to, though, and had no intentions of letting them out. However, in the end, she was convinced after fighting Kyo. She gave Sasuke a pair of panties and told him to tell Julian that they were hers (though that was a lie).
She climbs out of the underground later that day, to see what happens, and to fulfill her promise to the Former Red King. She meets Tokito, and tells the girl about her true heritage.
When she stabs the Former Red King, she calls for her Mibu blood, and stabs him. However, he doesn't have his heart in his body, so she is unable to kill her. The Former King attacks her in gratitude, as he calls it, for trying to keep her promise. The Former King is killed, however, after Sasuke brought the Former King's heart.
Shihoudou made the Former Red King a grave among the other, and made graves for everyone else that died in the battle, like her fellow Taishirou Fubuki and Hishigi.
